As we return to in-person classes this September, we are taking extra precautions to keep students as safe as possible whilst still allowing for interaction, connection and group building. OXONDrama director Rachel Mae Brady has been double vaccinated and has completed Covid Safety Training with Community Matters.
Vaccinations / Home Covid Tests
Please note in order to ensure safety for all students, anyone wishing to join our in-person classes must either provide proof of both vaccinations OR (if un-vaccinated) must show a negative home Covid test result before class each week instead.
Smaller Numbers & Social Distancing
In order to ensure we can keep students two meters apart throughout class, we are limiting our classes to 10 students max. Students will be able to move around freely, during various exercises, games and during scene work, but will be asked to keep socially distanced from one another.
Will face coverings be worn?
Our current policy is that no, face coverings will not be needed in class. Windows will be kept open where possible and students will socially distance instead. However, students will need to wear masks upon arriving or leaving the venue, in the bathroom, or in any communal areas.
Thorough Cleaning Procedures
Both South Oxford Community Centre and The Venue@Cowley undergo rigorous daily cleaning, significantly reducing the risk of contaminated surfaces.
Additional changes include students bringing their own water to eliminate contaminated cups etc. Students will be asked to arrive when the class starts (rather than early or late) to avoid queuing. We have also removed scripts, props and costumes from our classes. All script work will happen via phones/tablets/electronic devices.
What happens if class can’t go ahead in-person
Hopefully classes will go ahead as planned, but if class can’t go ahead in person due to another lockdown or venue closure due to contact with a positive case, class will take place online via Zoom.
If you would like to join a class and have any Covid related concerns, please get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org or 0747 3962 662 to discuss your query with Rachel.
